The Loc Extensions  are handmade using human extension (weave) hair, that has been chemically cleaned/sanitized at the manufacturer, then once received by loctician it is matted by hand to make individual deadlock extensions. 

Yes, Loc Extensions are permanent but as with any hair style, it may be removed by cutting it off.

The client's natural hair is locked via the Needle Method and the extensions are sewn onto the client's newly created locs.​ Once attached,  extension hair matted around the attachment point to hide any thread showing.

No, "locs" that are shiny are not locs at all but are a braided hairstyle. Synthetic hair or straight hair are wrapped around foundation (braid or loose hair), which creates the characteristic and unnatural shiny look. Natural locs are not shiny because the hair is matted and tangled together. Clients who desire an unnatural shiny look are encouraged to get faux locs instead.

Yes, the loc extensions will look like your hair because the human hair used will match your texture.

A modified box brick layer pattern is used, brick layer for most of the head and usually straight rows in the front. The pattern used is also determined by the client's hair thickness and density.

The point where your natural hair meets the relaxed hair is a weak point and the relaxed hair will eventually break off. This breakage can occur at any time, couple of months or a few years, either way the hair will eventually break off and take the Loc Extensions with it. For this reason, the relaxed hair must be cut off. 

There are many methods of doing Loc Extensions and some locticians may choose not to cut off the relaxed hair but the method used by LYL requires that it be cut off. Clients are welcome and encouraged to do research on various methods and seek consultations with other locticians. The point where the natural hair meets the relaxed hair is a weak point and will eventually cause breakage.
